What are Value Added Services?
Value Added Services (VAS) are also referred to as value-added services. This refers to services that go beyond the usual core business of transporting goods. In addition to transport, handling and storage processes, there are other tasks along the value chain. Logistics service providers or freight forwarders offer their customers a comprehensive logistics solution in all phases of the logistics chain with value-added services. This includes the following value added services:
Product-oriented value-added services:
- Assembly/disassembly work
- Repair
- Packing/Repacking
- Product refinement
- Quality control
Process-oriented value-added services:
- Picking
- Fabrication
- Labeling
- Returns management
- Customs clearance
- Shelf service
Logistics service providers and manufacturers usually work closely together to ensure long-term and tailored cooperation. In this process, the value-added services are set out in a contract, the so-called contract.
