Single-use pallet

What is a single-use pallet?

A single-use pallet (also known as a one-way pallet or disposable pallet) is designed for one-time use. It is mainly used for exports, lightweight goods, or one-off deliveries to private customers—situations where pallet return or exchange is not feasible.

Single-use pallets can be made from wood, plastic, cardboard, or pressed wood. Compared to the more robust and reusable Euro pallets, they are constructed more simply and are significantly cheaper. They are also generally lighter and are not standardized, meaning they can be manufactured in custom sizes.

Another advantage is that single-use pallets are not part of a deposit or return system and do not need to be returned after transport. Most of them are also recyclable or biodegradable. However, compared to Euro pallets, they are less durable and not as load-bearing. Their disposal must be organized after use.

Key characteristics of a single-use pallet:

  • Not exchangeable

  • Intended for one-time use

  • Ideal for export and one-way transport

  • Made from wood, plastic, cardboard, or pressed wood

  • Lighter than reusable pallets

  • Less robust than Euro pallets
