Returns

What are returns?

Returns are understood to be all returns of used and unused goods. A return means that the product is not purchased. Although the goods have been packed, shipped and returned, no revenue is generated. This can result in significant costs, especially for online e-commerce retailers.

Many logistics processes are crucial for the proper return of goods. For example, each package is first unpacked and prepared for quality inspection. The individual articles can be determined on the basis of the barcodes via scanner detection. After quality inspection, the returned goods can usually be used again for other customer orders.

Possible reasons for a return:

  • Wrong delivery
  • Order multiple variants
  • Long delivery time
  • Quality problems
  • Complaint
  • Repair

Avoiding returns in online retail:

  • Detailed product description
  • Realistic product representation
  • Fast shipping
  • Good packaging protection
