What is a notification?
The term notification, or notification for short, refers to an announcement of a collection or delivery. This means that the forwarding agent arranges an appointment by telephone or in writing before the goods are delivered. The shipping notification is not comparable to shipping documents, as these arrive at the same time as the goods. A notification is sent in advance and provides advance information about the incoming goods.
A shipping notification can contain the following information:
- Article quantity
- Item number
- Article weight or volume
- Time of goods receipt
Notification is used in particular in supply chains when the recipient requires information about an exact delivery time.
