High-bay warehouse

What is a high-bay warehouse?

A high-bay warehouse (HRL) is used to store the goods. These high racks start at a height of 12 meters and can reach a maximum height of about 50 meters. HRLs are mostly made of steel structures and very rarely of wood.

Advantages of a high-bay warehouse:

  • High capacity at several hundred thousand pallet locations
  • High space utilization
  • Fully electronic and to be operated with a warehouse management system
  • Flat goods and long goods can be stored

The racks are arranged so that there is always an aisle between two high racks. This allows storage and retrieval machines (SRM) to move in these aisles and coordinate the goods.
