Fleet management

What does fleet management mean?

The term fleet management refers to the management of a vehicle fleet. Regardless of the size of the company and the number of vehicles, a fleet management system offers many advantages. Active measures are being taken to make the vehicle fleet more efficient and cost-effective. Fleet management is now largely automated, allowing employees to concentrate on their main tasks and increasing the productivity of logistics processes.

Nowadays, modern fleet management works primarily with the support of special GPS transmitters that are attached directly to the vehicle. With such a GPS system, the dispatcher can track the fleet precisely and better coordinate the vehicles and routes.

Who takes over fleet management?

For small companies, this is usually done by their own office administration. From a certain fleet size, a dedicated fleet manager is required. For larger fleets, it is also possible to outsource fleet management to an external service provider. These can be large car rental or leasing companies, for example.

What tasks are included in fleet management?

  • Fleet management
  • Tour and route planning
  • Repair management
  • Driver time management
  • Data evaluation and data archiving
  • Dispatcher and order management
