Fleet Management

What does fleet management mean?

The term fleet management refers to the management of a vehicle fleet. Regardless of the size of the company and the number of vehicles, a fleet management system offers many benefits. This is because active measures are being taken to make the fleet more efficient and cost-effective. Today, fleet management is largely automated, allowing employees to concentrate on their main tasks and increasing the productivity of logistics operations.

Nowadays, modern fleet management works mainly with the support of special GPS transmitters, which are attached directly to the vehicle. With such a GPS system, the dispatcher can accurately track the fleet and better coordinate vehicles and routes.

Who takes over the fleet management?

For small companies, this is usually done by their own office administration. Above a certain fleet size, a dedicated fleet manager is required. In the case of a larger fleet, it is also possible to hand over fleet management to an external service provider. These can be large car rental or leasing companies, for example.

What tasks are included in fleet management?

  • Fleet management
  • Tour and route planning
  • Repair Management
  • Driver time management
  • Data evaluation and data archiving
  • Dispatcher and order management
