What is e-fulfillment?
E-fulfillment refers to the logistical processes involved in e-commerce. When a customer buys a certain product on the Internet, it usually has a long way to go. The goods are retrieved, packed, transported and delivered to the recipient.
Most online retailers have no logistics experience and prefer to focus on their core business. They then work with specialized e-fulfillment service providers who handle the logistics operations.
E-fulfillment includes these processes
E-fulfillment includes all logistical processes related to online retailing, such as:
- Picking
- Shipping
- Packing
- Franking
However, more than just the usual warehouse activities are often covered. These include, for example, value-added services such as returns processing, repairs to goods or the reordering of goods that are running low.
But there are also things that are not part of e-fulfillment. This includes, above all, the management of the online stores and the distribution of the goods sold.
