What is contract logistics ?
Contract logistics represents a long-term cooperation between the company and a logistics service provider and is defined with a service contract (contract). The contract logistics service provider takes over the logistics tasks and stands as a binding member.
Several logistic services
Contract logistics includes not only the typical logistics activities such as transportation or warehousing, but also service packages with increased complexity and problem-solving approaches. Additional logistical services, such as shipment tracking, or non-logistical additional services, such as assembly activities, are provided in order to offer customers added value.
Degree of individualization of logistics services
The needs of the contract provider are adapted in contract logistics and the customer is offered a high degree of individualization of the respective contract logistics providers. The diversity and integration of customers' wishes means that the company is no longer interchangeable.
