Circulating rack warehouse
The choice of suitable conveyor technology depends not only on the type and size of the storage areas, but also on the types of goods to be managed. Unlike fixed storage racks, for example, a dynamic storage system is used for dynamic storage - this means that the storage compartments or storage units are attached to permanently circulating load-bearing elements. In practice, the carousel warehouse can be implemented as a vertical or horizontal carousel warehouse, with either chains or toothed belts being used for the load-bearing equipment.
An example of a vertical carousel is the so-called paternoster. If, on the other hand, a horizontal carousel storage rack is used, such as a carousel rack, different space conditions are required. Typically, these types of storage racks are implemented as shelving racks, but cantilever racks are also possible depending on the industry.
The special feature of circulating storage racks is that they work according to the goods-to-man principle and are based on a cyclical circulation, i.e. the storage locations (for storage and retrieval) are brought to the operating station in each case.
